Thing 10

I had downloaded from the digital library before, it provides convenience for me, I can have it on my laptop and not having to carry an extra item with me.

Thing 9

The basic features are very similar to the popular ones (e.g. MS Office). It is a good alternative because it is free, but it will work fine only if you have internet access and with a Google account. I used the Mac in the AS office on the Thing 9 assignment, unfortunately I found that the Spreadsheet version of Google Docs does not yet support Safari. Document and Presentation worked fine on Safari. Google Docs works fine with IE and Firefox as I switched back to a PC. The one that stood out to me is the Documentation version, since that is what I will most likely utilize. I really like the feature that when you email the file as an attachment, it gives you the options to attach in different formats (i.e. Word, rtf, pdf, odt), this feasibility is great.

Thing 8

I contributed to the wiki under my favorite TV shows. Wiki is an interesting concept. There may be always someone who tries to ruin a wiki, but all in all, I think having an organized community who can watch the wiki's as "moderators" like they do in forums can minmize any abuse or inaccuracies. I have read Wikipedia in the past, for the most part, I tend to trust what's written there, because I looked up a couple technical subjects that I knew very much of and they were very much right on.

Thing 7

I was surprised about this concept, I thought that podcasts were for ipods only. None of my friends who have ipods had ever mentioned to me about podcasts either. Since I do not have an ipod or Mac, I did not get myself involved into this concept. Well I enjoyed going through the lists and there are so many subjects to listen to. I listened to the Infopeople podcasts. Now that I had been actively exposed to podcasts, I'll be spending a lot of time going through the list of podcasts out there. I randomly subscribed to a podcast to get the feel for it, but I haven't yet decided which ones that I really want to subscribe, I need to narrow down my interests, I'll look for some comedies and humor related podcasts. Book talk or book reviews will be nice to have as podcasts from the library.

Thing 6

This is helpful for groups of people who share common interests and projects. This tool can be helpful in schools, libraries, companies, organizations, personal interests., etc. etc. The process was very simple, it was good to see how my bookmarks compare to everyone else's.

I was telling Judy about this and I asked her to log on to see what I mean, then when I was about to show her, I found it, there it was in grey. As it It turned out, it was quite easy to post my photo to my blog via Flickr...only after doing it the first time. This is an excellent tool!

They have a service for putting your photo on a postage stamp. That's something I want to try later. How about SPL having their own photo on a postage stamp?

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.
